| Anthony H. Schmidt Jr. is a retired vet of the U. S. Navy, and served for over 20 years. He is currently the exec vp of the indie label, Count The Cash Records. Collected poetry from 1984-2003 The title of the book, Under the Rose, translates to "in secret." In the classical Roman world, the rose is a symbol of confidentiality. Roses were decorated on ceilings above dining rooms so when people were under the influence of wine, the roses would remind them that any conversations could not be made public. Writing poetry is an art form, and expressing this form of art is to fulfill ones self. Reading poetry also fulfills others to the extent of experiencing certain emotions and/or thoughts. In Under the Rose, the author has compiled those poems where all people can embrace and relate to while bringing out a laugh, a tear, or any feeling, and enlightenment. The flow of the words is reminiscent of a stream of water, to keep you in it and bring out an emotional feeling. There is a wide variety of poems within this book to influence a large audience. The author has separated the poems into 3 chapters: Tragedy, Essence, and Romance. |
