Excerpt/Quote From Book
You Sting II

I
loved you
most when I
hated you for
days on end, but now
it seems that I just hate
you. You’ve driven me to this
end. Push harder, aim lower, cut
deeper. Congratulations you have
succeeded in destroying what was left.
***

Pulse

Asleep my bed—
music listens to my ears.
I thought ill of it and quite,
such sick delicious it wakes.

Yesterday worry killed my loves,
I thought it seemed rather still—
the dead kind found sick—betrayed,
asleep my music lay.
***

Winding Sheet

Your fierce gaze burns my tender, willing flesh.
Fingerprints remain ever deep like
a thousand memories of soft
moments long passed—I need you
here with me. Your passion
envelopes me dark.
Always I want
to burn in
your fierce
gaze.
***

Star-crossed

Nerves strike calm,
nothing is safe in the end.
The longest calm drought;
strife changes with time.

Nothing much beyond desire,
for need seems tingly
and true love particularly shocks.
I crossed heaven.

Elsewhere desire will interfere,
but nerves seem reward.
Time changes much—
wait patiently for it to interfere.

Stars crossed.

So You Want to Die

I’ll be the blade that ends your life:
I won’t do it swiftly, but I will do it right.

What good is dying if you can’t be sure when you go?
I will make it torture, but at least you’ll know.

I can help you—suicide for hire!
Why roll the dice, when you can play with fire?

Don’t worry, your family will get over it and if they refuse,
that’s okay! I can help them, too.
***

Treasure

This small wooden box
holds many things.
They seem like simple trinkets to you,
but oh what emotion they bring!

A box full of memories,
this is what I hold.
Thoughts and promises
and secrets of old.

A lock of Grandfather’s hair,
my Labrador’s tags,
my Great-Aunt’s jewelry—
cherished possessions I have.

A porcelain thimble,
Grandmother’s funeral card,
pictures from childhood I look at
when dropping my guard.

This small wooden box
that I keep near.
A box full of memories
that I hold dear.
***

Croak

Spring from lily pads
In your pond, great royal frog
One kiss—you’re a prince
Professional Reviews
Review of Terminal Darkness by: Anthony Parson
Bigger, bolder, and darker than ever with her third installment from the dark, Sprott delivers us a huge plate of ebon delights that will sate your hunger for "terminal" literature. Her work continues to surprise the reader, taking on new forms, with twists to her own style, perhaps most notably are the her ethere’s with their natural flow that is so rare to see among authors today. For those of you who have read Sprott’s work before, will be happy to see she’s remained true to her wicked form and for those who haven’t, this book is a great introduction to her work. With the release of past works from her two previous books ("Descent Into The Dark" and "It Grows Darker Still") into this one, new readers will have perfect opportunity to become acquainted with her writing, and for those more familiar, will find old favorites as well as sequels and references to past poems I.e. "You Sting II" and "Descent Revisited" which add greatly to the readers experience. I highly recommend this book along with her past two dark poetry books are equally as engaging.
